Cosmoprof North America 2014: Jessica Cosmetics

Another great installment of what I got to see at Cosmoprof North America 2014 for you tonight. Unlike other bloggers, I purposely decided to split up the Cosmoprof 2014 posts so you can continually be excited by them. To see them all, browse the CPNA2014 tag.

The time I was able to spend with the Jessica Cosmetics rep was very brief, and they had appointment after appoinment, so I couldn't spend a ton of time getting all the details. Here's what I was able to gather from the rep though. All in all, it's exciting, and my favorite collection (Autumn in New York) I'll review for you at the bottom of this post, so don't miss it!

Here's a sneak peak at the nail art, to entice you to read on...

First, I learned about their new gel/lacquer duos, called GELeration. Each pair (with a total of 12) comes with a gel and its matching lacquer. The thought behind this is that if your gel polish starts to chip before you're ready to go in for a touch up, you can use the regular lacquer to fix mishaps. The light is LED, and according to the rep, the gel doesn't need to be removed with 100% acetone. Any remover should do!

What I like as a nail tech is that a picky client who insists on matching fingers and toes can easily pick up the pair and get a mani in gel, and a pedi in lacquer. Removing gel from tiny toe nails is unpleasant to say the least.

The Jessica Cosmetics holiday collection features some pretty great effects, including glitters, textured polishes and sparkles. I don't see these as being incredibly original (how many textures can their be?), but if you're a Jessica fan, you'll probably be thrilled about this.

Go for the Gold includes 4 holiday golds to layer throughout the season. These are really pretty!

These little cuties are the colors in the Light Up the Night collection. They'll be released in packs of two colors and a base coat, called Bend Don't Break. It will promote nails that are maximally strong and flexible.

For Breast Cancer Awareness, Jessica Cosmetics will be packaging these 3 brand new pinks. The collection, Pink Speaks, will donate all proceeds to breastcancer.org. Beautiful and good!

One thing about Jessica, the creator of Jessica Cosmetics, is how she goes about creating products. Each nail client should have a prescription, written for them by their nail tech. Keeping in line with that, each product is combined with others to bring clients' nail health to its fullest potential.

The Kiss Nouveau is another effect collection, offering polishes in shades and finishes as they're seen in the famous painting, The Kiss by Gustav Klimt.

The final and my favorite collection I got to see at Cosmoprof this year is called Autumn in New York. It includes 6 beautiful colors (shared below) that capture the character and grace of New York City. I definitely felt that as I worked on my swatches and nail art below.

Jessica Cosmetics Autumn in New York Review & Nail Art

The baby pink nude paired beautifully with the deep brown, and felt very elegant to me. So I created this freehand lace design with subtle pearl accents, feeling fancy the whole time.

Soho In Love (2 coats) - This was the base color for my lace nail art above. The pinky-beige is absolutely gorgeous...very soft and a perfect wedding shade.

Blue Harlem (2 coats) is a dark midnight violet. Easy formula and beautifully built. This is the kind of dark shade I'm constantly on the lookout for - bright, bold, and deep all at the same time.

Broadway Bound (2 coats) - This orange-red creme has a slight pearlescent shimmer to it that you can see along the shine marks on the nails above.

Mad for Madison (2 coats) is a dark, deep, somewhat chalky brown. That's not to say it applies chalky, like some pastels and neons do. The color just looks like it might have chalk in it. It's also the shade I used for the details in my lace nail art.

NY State of Mind (2 coats) is a dark denim creme. It seems a little brighter in the swatch than in true life.

Meet at the Plaza (2 coats) is the perfect fall green. A deep foresty shade, beautifully applied.

Jessica Cosmetics continues to excite me with their color collections, and it's exciting to see that they're jumping on the effects bandwagon.

Of all the collections shown here, what excites you the most? Do you like Jessica's "prescription" idea for your nails?

The products in this post were given for review purposes. The reviews are based entirely on my experience with the products and were in no way influenced by anyone.
